In 2023, Wildbird Shack made the pivotal decision to close its retail store and turn its full attention to education. The SPEAKEASY was born from Alyse’s passion for birding and nature. As our environment and ecosystems face unprecedented changes, protecting our bird populations has never been more critical. The loss of birds creates a domino effect…leading to the disappearance of plant species, significant reduction of fruit and vegetable species, loss of invaluable medicine, increase in the insect populations and the spread of disease. The consequences are far reaching and growing.
Education is a powerful tool. With the right knowledge, we can take steps to not only understand the delicate balance of nature, but take meaningful steps to protect it so that wildlife and people thrive.
